The Town of Bucksport adopted the Town Manager form of government in 1946. Since then, four individuals have been appointed to serve the position. They have included: L. W. O’Connor 1946 to 1959, Archie Sanborn 1960 to 1974, Roger Foster 1974 to 1984 and Roger Raymond 1985 to present.

The duties of town manager are outlined by the Bucksport Town Charter, Article 2, Section 2.05. The town manager serves at the pleasure of the town council.
